Dorothy Martinez Elementary

Dorothy Martinez Elementary in Little Elm, Texas, designed by Pfluger Architects and completed in 2024 for Denton ISD, makes a striking architectural statement with its exterior cladding. The school employs King Klinker’s Black Beauty thin brick in the American Imperial size—distributed by Acme Brick—laid in a vertical one-third running bond that accentuates height and rhythm. The building is organized around a central hub (library, dining, courtyard) that encourages connectivity and flexibility rather than isolated wings, and incorporates prefabricated wall panels to meet tight timelines, ensure quality, and achieve energy‐efficiency goals.
